Privacy Policy

GavelHopper is a curated marketplace for independent shopkeepers. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to keep this short and honest.

What we collect

• Account data — email, name, hashed password. Required to sign in and reach you about orders. We never store passwords in plain text.
• Profile data for vendors — storefront name, slug, listing details, payout configuration. Required to operate as a seller on the platform.
• Order and payment data — items purchased, shipping address, totals, payment confirmation tokens from Stripe or PayPal. We do not store full card numbers; those are held by the payment processor.
• Photos you upload — listing photos. Server-side processing strips EXIF/GPS metadata before storage.
• Device data — when you use the mobile app: app version, OS version, and crash diagnostics if you opt in.

How we use it

• To run your account and fulfill your orders.
• To show you content from vendors you follow or visit.
• To send you order updates, security alerts, and (only if you opt in) marketing email.
• To detect abuse and protect the integrity of the marketplace.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data to advertisers.
• We do not share your data with third parties for advertising.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Who we share with

We share data with the minimum number of service providers we need to operate: Stripe and PayPal for payments, our hosting provider for storage and delivery, and our email provider for transactional email. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement.

Your rights and choices

• Access & export: contact us at the address below and we will provide an export of your account data within 30 days.
• Correction: edit your account details from the account settings page on the web or in the mobile app.
• Deletion: you can delete your account at any time from gavelhopper.com/account/delete. Once deleted, your account data is removed within 30 days; some order records may be retained to satisfy legal/accounting obligations.

Children

GavelHopper is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify active accounts by email before the changes take effect.
